How can u record someones voice legally in the United Kingdom? (Dictating machine)? A relative of someone who has committed a crime against my child has been to make life uncomfortable in my phone and trying to intimidate. The police said that I must prove it, but will not put a tap on my phone. Anyway, I have a dictaphone, but I know there are some laws on the registration someones voice without their permission. I let him go to voicemail but no messages were left and I can not answer the phone Incase someone is calling about my children. (Assistant mother, nurse, etc.), as always call numbers selected. I tried to change my number and his own limitations, but it always happens around her. Are there ways around this where I could have proof by recording what she said, but stay on the right side of the law at the same time?
Recording telephone conversations is not illegal in the United Kingdom. Indeed, Scotland Yard would advise you to do in situations like yours.
If you want official information about this, call the police again and ask them if they recommend you record the conversations, and what other steps you take. You must also report the crime to the child, if you do not.
It is possible that you can take legal action against the harasser. Consult a lawyer to do so.
