VOIP and long distance calling service (Eastlink)? Hello,
Here is my question, I live in Canada and my home phone service is with Eastlnk (For those who dont know it, his telecom company working on the East Coast, like Rogers, Bell, AT & T, etc.)
They called me yesterday and told me that my phone number is used by another company a year ago to 2! and they gave me this number by mistake and they should take me and give me the news! and they gana $ 20 discount on my bill every month for a year! But I have this number for the whole year! and they say this number is for another company and you must return it.
They changed my phone last night! and gave me the news! WITHOUT MY conformation (they just noticed)
Then
1 - Is it possible that system to generate a number that is already in use? "
2 - What should I do? "
Thnx
1. It may be possible but very unlikely - given that you used the number a year now. There may be another reason to take the number back, and they are not from the beginning with you on that.
2. If you have made reasonable efforts to resolve the problem with them and they are not cooperative, then I suggest you contact:
A) The CRTC and file a complaint:

B) file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau:
