This is dangerous because it might actually be a virus and it could destroy someone's memory cell phone. I have a SIM card for mine with a backup, just in case.

My parents pull it on me every now and then. When they meet they say the phone is no longer in service. It is simple and the person at the other end to have to think for a moment.
