Is it possible to have a fixed line broadband with no assets? My BT bills are huge (my fault, I use the phone much) and I was wondering if done without fixed line altogether. I e-mail much, and could use my phone for emergencies.
Would I still be able to have broadband?
There are two types of broadband services in the United Kingdom:
Cable and DSL
ADSL uses standard telephone line. In the UK, if you get ADSL broadband you are forced to rent the phone line from BT, even if your provider of broadband not BT.
Cable broadband uses cable TV, which is physically separated from the telephone line. Thus, you can get cable broadband without a BT line rental.
Many households can not be connected to cable but. It depends on where you live. Check with your local cable provider to see if it is possible for you.
As for the high bills, why not use Skype instead of BT? I average one hour of phone calls internationally, one day (long distance relatinship) and my phone bill is £ 15 per month.
you'll have a line of some kind of broadband
If you do not want to call the best thing would be an NTL line or broadband cable ... you do not need a contract phone and unlimited use unlike BT ... and I do not think theres any line rental only 12 month contract
check around providers. We Wireless did not have a landline for over a year.they're a bit more but you did a cost landline.they connections. We is all high speed Clearwire and this service is just as fast if not faster than DSL.
Yes you can. I have cable broadband from NTL, (just broadband, no telephone or cable TV), quite independent of my BT phone line
I do not know if it is available where you are, but Vodafone New Zealand has recently released its "Vodem" - a device that plugs into your USB port and provides broadband access over the 3G network of VF. Totally portable - plug into any computer. I am very tempted!
Yes, I do not have a landline! you have 3 choices ... .... DSL High Speed Internet Cable ... FIOB (fiber optic) or Wi-Fi-fixed-max ... as clear-thread ... Verizon has generally a landline for DSL ... if you go in your area!
Light-wire is the cheapest and fastest ... but the phone I got with VoIP E911, no problem!
you do not need a land line for DSL, yes, it is a line, but only for DSL ... as Verizon and Earth offers links ...
NTL cable if you can get in your area .. £ 24.99 per month for 2MB speed, no land line needed.
NTL cable will be best option - that if you do not need a landline. They are good for the price / service too.
Cable - no landline
Option 1: To find a provider in your area that will give you broadband via cable television.
Option 2: See if a wireless provider in your area.
Option 3: See if there is someone who will give you DSL on a "dry" pair, that is, no telephone.
It is technically possible, it is a question of whether they are ready for you and then find someone who knows what you are talking about .... this more common as time passes. You can do this in most parts of Canada.
